Egyptian insurance market: H1 2023 turnover

The Egyptian insurance market has generated a turnover of 35.8 billion EGP (1.15 billion USD) in the first half of 2023, as reported by the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA). In local currency terms, this figure represents a 28.9% increase compared with the 27.8 billion EGP (1.5 billion USD) recorded in the same period of 2022.

As at 30 June 2023, non-life premiums were up by 60% to 17.4 billion EGP (562.5 million USD).

For its part, the life class of business posted an 8.9% progression in written premiums, which reached 18.4 billion EGP (594.9 million USD) at the end of June of the current financial year.
