Hurricane Ian: 10.3 billion USD of insured damages in Florida

hurricane IanOn 22 November 2022, insurers operating in Florida have received 640 496 claims related to the damages caused by hurricane Ian. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has estimated the total cost of the loss at 10.3 billion USD.

More than half of the claims, that is 52.5%, have been settled by insurance companies. Most claims (69.2%) concern residential properties, followed by those filed by commercial establishments (4.1%).

Nearly 36% of the claims occurred in Lee County, 15.1% in Charlotte County and 10.2% in Sarasota County.
