Viamedis and Almerys, victims of a cyberattack

Viamedis Almerys cyberattaqueViamedis and Almerys, two French operators that manage third-party payment for complementary health insurance, have fallen victim to a major cyberattack.

The French National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL) reported that hackers had gained access to the personal data of over 33 million people.

The data stolen includes civil status, date of birth, social security number, name of health insurer and policy coverage underwritten by policyholders and their families.

Other data such as bank details, medical data, medical reimbursements, postal addresses, telephone numbers and e-mails were not targeted by the attack.
