GIC Re: Narayanan Ramaswamy appointed new Chairman and CEO

GIC ReThe Indian government has appointed Narayanan Ramaswamy as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) for a two-year term. He is taking over from Devesh Srivastava. The appointment will be effective starting 1 October 2023.

Aged 57, N. Ramaswamy joined GIC Re in 1988 as a Direct Recruit Officer. Throughout his 35 years with the company, N. Ramaswamy has served in a number of senior positions, including CEO of the UK branch.

He is currently in charge of human resources, international operations, marketing, broker relationship management and credit rating at GIC Re's head office in Mumbai.
