Mauritanian insurance market: 2022 turnover

The Mauritanian insurance market closed the 2022 financial year with a turnover of 466 million MRU (12.5 million USD). The premium volume was up by 5.2% compared to the 443 million MRU (12 million USD) recorded in 2021.

The local insurance market currently features 17 players, including one foreign company and one health mutual.

Mauritania hosted the 48th General Assembly of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF) which took place from 18 to 22 February 2024.

The event was held in Nouakchott under the theme "Insurance at the service of Africa's economic and social development".
