Mandatory electronic Orange Card for Libyan vehicles entering Tunisia

car insuranceLibyan vehicles entering Tunisia must now present the inter-Arab motor insurance card (Orange Card), in electronic format. This measure came into force on 1 January 2024.

According to Ahmed Hardouk, General Manager of the Bureau Unifié Automobile Tunisien (BUAT), this initiative follows the implementation of the Orange Card electronic system, developed by the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF). The purpose is to adapt to technological developments and combat the falsification of insurance certificates.

For the record, the Orange Card Convention was signed in Tunis in 1975 by 20 Arab countries.
