Climate change: ARC pays out 60 million USD in compensation

ARCIn 2022, African Risk Capacity (ARC) paid out 60 million USD in compensation to support African populations vulnerable to climate change. This was the largest amount ever spent by ARC since its creation in 2014.

In 2022, the company covered 18 million people exposed to the risks of climate change (drought and tropical cyclones).

Malawi alone received aid worth 14.2 million USD to help the country recover from the damage caused by severe droughts during the agricultural season.

Madagascar, which was heavily hit by tropical cyclone Batsirai in 2022, received 10.7 million USD in compensation.
