Abderrahim Chaffai, new Chairman of ACAPS

Abderrahim Chaffai was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) on 19 October 2023.

A. Chaffai launched his career in Paris in 1992 as a junior consultant with the actuarial firm Joël Winter & Associés. He then served in a series of senior positions with several Moroccan insurance companies. He was successively Actuarial, Statistics and Development Director at SANAD, Technical Director at CNIA and Deputy General Manager of Zurich Assurances Maroc.

In May 2010, Abderrahim Chaffai joined Société Centrale de Réassurance (SCR) as Deputy Managing Director. In July 2015, he joined Wafa Assurances, where he also held the position of Deputy General Manager until August 2018. Prior to his recent appointment, A. Chaffai had been Director of the Solidarity Fund against Catastrophic Events (FSEC) since June 2019.

For the record, the FSEC is a system set up by the Moroccan Government to compensate victims of natural disasters who have no insurance coverage.

Abderrahim Chaffai holds a Master's degree in Mathematics (University of Rouen Normandy,1991), a Master's degree in Statistics (Pierre and Marie Curie University Paris, 1994) and an MBA from HEC Paris (2010).
