Swiss Re: climate change takes its toll on global economies
Swiss Re Institute has published a study on the impact of climate change on the world's economies.
Based on 2022 data from 36 countries, the analysis only covers the four most frequent weather hazards: floods, tropical cyclones, winter storms and severe thunderstorms. Heat waves and droughts are not included in the study.
The report estimates that these four main phenomena account for annual economic losses of 200 billion USD for the countries concerned.
