Cyclone Freddy in Madagascar: ARC and ADB pay 1.5 million USD in compensation

Cyclone FreddyAfrican Risk Capacity (ARC) and the African Development Bank (ADB) have contributed 1.5 million USD to support Madagascar in the aftermath of tropical cyclone Freddy.

1.2 million USD of this amount will go to the Madagascar government and 300 000 USD to the World Food Program (WFP).

The storm, which hit the country on 21 February 2023, affected more than 120 000 people and destroyed more than 10 300 homes and schools. The natural disaster has also claimed human lives.
