Nat-Cat insurance rates to go up by 2050

natural disastersFrance Assureurs has estimated that the cost of natural disasters claims could be twice as high by 2050, reaching 145 to 150 billion EUR (157.2 to 162.6 billion USD).

The exacerbation of climate change is pushing insurers to increase the rates for the coverage of this type of risk.

Jean-Philippe Dogneton, CEO of Macif, stated that the average cost of a Nat-Cat insurance policy per French household amounts to 20 EUR. The premium rate should be raised from the current 12% to 18%.
