The US insurer MetLife, has decided to boycott the National Firearms Association (NRA).
Members of the association who could previously benefit from tariff reductions on certain insurance policies will no longer take advantage of this privilege. The insurer Chubb has announced for his part, that he would stop underwriting insurance policies for NRA gun owners.
These statements follow the deaths of 17 people in the shooting of February 14, 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
For the record, the NRA is one of the most powerful lobbies in the United States. Founded in 1871, the association defends the free trade in firearms and counts more than five million members. It acts as the protector of the right to own and carry weapons as stipulated in the 2nd Amendment of the American Constitution. It is systematically opposed to the creation of new laws against the carrying of weapons.
