The «Caisse Centrale de Réassurance» (CCR) and «Météo-France» renew their partnership on modeling climatic events. This agreement was made official during the «2019 National Assembly on Natural Risks» held in Montpellier on March 25th-26th.
This six-year prolonged collaboration will allow the company to access the data collected by Météo-France. It aims at developing more accurate and realistic climate models for a better risk assessment.
With a proper understanding of climate risks, the governments could be able to improve their prevention policies and react more effectively to the occurrence of natural events.
Moreover, thanks to this partnership, the insurers have the possibility to decrease the risk of exposure to natural catastrophes and cover the insured with more affordable premiums and thus a better compensation.
According to a study on the impact of climate changes on the cost of natural catastrophes in France by 2050, published in September, 2018 by the CCR, France shall witness an increase of 50% on the loss experience throughout the upcoming 30 years.
