Best [4] confirms the financial strength rating "A" (Excellent) and long-term credit rating "a+" of the Japanese reinsurance company Toa Re and its subsidiaries Toa Reinsurance Company of America (TRA) and Toa 21st Century Reinsurance Company, Switzerland. The outlook for both ratings remains stable.
The rating reflects the financial strength of the reinsurer's balance sheet, its neutral business profile and its efficient business risk management. The strength of the balance sheet reflects a high level of risk-adjusted capitalization. The rating agency considers Toa Re's operating performance to be adequate.
For the year 2019, Toa Re’s net written premiums were established at 270.252 billion JPY (2.506 billion USD) ended 31 March 2020, thus rising by 8.8% compared to the year 2018.
