Allianz to acquire a stake in the Greek insurer European Reliance

AllianzAllianz has acquired a 72% stake in the capital of European Reliance General Insurance Company. The deal was worth 207 million EUR (234.722 million USD).

After the finalisation of this transaction, the Greek insurer's activities will be integrated into those of Allianz Hellas, Allianz's subsidiary in Greece.

The merged entity will become the fifth largest insurance company in the country and the first in the non-life market. The company will be headed by the current CEO of European Reliance, Christos Georgakopoulos.
