Provisional statistics from the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) indicated that by the end of 2022, Moroccan roads had recorded 113 740 bodily injuries, down by 1.53% compared to 2021.
In 2022, 3 201 road accident fatalities [4] were recorded, representing a 6.84% drop over one year. The fatality ratio per 100 000 vehicles is 75 compared to 529 in 1971.
The number of serious injuries went down by 5.22%, while the number of minor injuries regressed by 1.07%.
NARSA estimates the economic and social cost of the lack of road safety at 19.5 billion MAD (2 billion USD), or 1.69% of the GDP.
It should be recalled that the Kingdom has established a national strategy aimed at achieving a 50% decrease in the mortality rate by 2026.
