Insurers are facing pressure to increase penetration rate
The Association of Kenyan Insurers (AKI) is exerting pressure on insurers required to make intensive use of new technologies with a view to increase the penetration rate. In 2005, 20% of the population owned a mobile telephone, against 70% today. Likewise for internet which rose from 5% to 36%. The country has 46 insurance companies.
