Natural catastrophes, reinsurance demand has peaked in Asia

For the tenth consecutive year, the underwriting of natural catastrophe risks has increased in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the study of Guy Carpenter, (Asia Pacific Catastrophe Report 2013), the amount of covers purchased by local insurers has reached record high levels. The factors that drive insurers to buy more coverage are mainly due to their awareness of the dangers, the increase of insurance penetration in these countries and the prudent management of capital-risk.
