New legislation regulating the insurance business

According to Brahim Djamel Kassali, president of the Algerian union of insurance and reinsurance companies (UAR), a new bill governing the insurance sector will be ready for next fall. It will be submitted to the government for approval and then presented to parliament.

Legal experts and representatives of insurance companies are currently working on the revision of certain laws. The potential extension of the supervisory bodies' role, the creation of new regional representations of the motor compensation fund (FGA) and the adaptation of the insurance code to the international standards are among the potential amendments.
