The Senegal is getting insured against drought

The Senegalese government has finalized with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) the payment of its first annual premium for the Pan African  Disaster  Risk  Pool: African  Risk  Capacity (ARC).

The settlement of 1.8 billion FCFA (3.7 million USD) materializes the accession of Senegal to the Pan African pool. The subscribed mechanism provides for a compensation at the level of 15 billion FCFA (31 million USD) upon the occurrence of a drought during the year.
