A fund to ensure the coverage of poor countries against epidemic risks

At the Spring Meetings held recently in Washington, the group of the seven major world powers (G7) and the World Bank proposed the establishment of a fund designed to finance the coverage of poor countries against infectious epidemics.

The beneficiary States will receive an aid of up to 500 million USD over three years. This initiative has followed the spread of the Ebola hemorrhagic fever that ravaged West Africa during 2014.
