A legislation promoting microinsurance

Zimbabwean authorities are preparing an amendment to the insurance Code. Among the new measures to be introduced is a draft law that will allow insurers to offer microinsurance services.

This measure is designed to promote the emergence of small companies specializing in life and non-life microinsurance. The required capital for such transactions will be between 1.5 and 3 million USD, which is below the regulatory minimum in traditional insurance.
