Access of small farmers to agricultural insurance

The World Bank has submitted to the governmental representatives, insurance professionals, and farmers' organizations the outcome of a survey launched in February 2007. Entitled “ indexed agricultural insurance in Senegal, promoting access for small farm operators to agricultural insurance”, the survey advocates the adoption of an indemnification system based either on the calculation of crops yield at the departmental level, or on the calculation of rainfall parameters. This system should apply to all Senegalese producers.
