Acts of vandalism of the Arc de Triomphe will be costly

The cost of damage that hit the Arc de Triomphe could reach 1 million EUR (1.13 million USD). The monument was vandalized away from the main demonstrations of yellow vests on Saturday, December 1st, 2018.

According to the president of the French Center of National Monuments, several works of art have been ransacked or looted and several facilities have been destroyed.

Closed since the riots, the Arc de Triomphe will reopen as soon as possible. Following these acts of violence, there have been 412 arrests. The police are pursuing their investigations in search of the looters.
