Allianz reports excellent results in 2018
Allianz achieved in 2018 a net profit of 7.46 billion EUR (8.53 billion USD), an increase of 9.7% over one year. This is the best performance recorded in 10 years.
The group's turnover rose by 3.5% to reach 130.6 billion EUR (149.4 billion USD). Life and non life insurance reported an increase of 2.6% and 4.7%, respectively.
The improving result was accounted for by the reduced reimbursements related to natural disasters. Allianz, turned, thus a difficult 2017 year affected by forest fires in California, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and several storms in Europe.
The group expects a share buy-back programme estimated at 1.5 billion EUR (1.7 billion USD) between March and December 2019.
