An insurance fraudster betrayed by his pacemaker's data

In a domestic fire case, the US scientific police unit did not hesitate to analyze the data of the insured's pacemaker to verify that he had himself initiated the fire in order to benefit from his property insurance indemnity.

The 59-year-old man said he escaped the flames as he went out from a window. He also said that he even managed to save some stuff. The heart of the man had to beat very hard under stress and physical effort but his pacemaker revealed the opposite: at the time of the fire, the heart rate was regular.

After an extensive investigation, the police filed a heavy report that charged the insured for arson and insurance fraud. The pacemaker data was at the top of the list of indictment evidences.
