Axa and Grameen Jameel are involved in microinsurance in North Africa and Middle East

Axa MedLA (Mediterranean and Latin America) is collaborating with Grameen Jameel Microfinance in order to develop microinsurance products. An agreement which defined North Africa, Turkey and the Middle East as target regions, was signed.

According to the Munich Re Foundation and the International Labor Organization, in 2011, 500 million people benefit from a microinsurance cover in accident, health, death, natural catastrophes and property damage classes of business. Only four years ago, the number was limited to 78 million, with the majority of the insured people living in India, 15% in Latin America and 5% in Africa.
