China Oceanwide's acquisition of Genworth Financial postponed to April 1, 2018
The closing date for the acquisition of the US insurer Genworth Financial by the Chinese investment fund China Oceanwide Holdings Group has been extended to April 1, 2018.
This additional period would be necessary for the review of the transaction by the Committee for Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
The institution responsible for analyzing acquisitions of US companies by foreign companies has rejected in recent months, several similar transactions like the acquisition of 20% of the financial services company Cowen Group by CEFC China Energy.
This situation would be accounted for by the introduction of new protectionist measures since the Trump administration came to power.
