Covid-19: Update on the pandemic

coronaAs of 26 April 2021, the pandemic has killed more than 3.5 million people.

The emergence of new variants aggravates the challenges of containing the virus and imposes strict measures to stop the contagion. The Indian variant, which continues to gain ground, has been detected in 53 countries.

The vaccination campaigns are slowly progressing as the gap between rich and poor countries continues to widen. In this race, many developed countries do not hesitate to sue laboratories if they ever fail to respect delivery deadlines. The European Union for instance, has launched legal proceedings against AstraZeneca which in Q1 2021 failed to deliver 120 million and sent 30 million doses instead.

In the United States, Joe Biden is calling on intelligence services to investigate the origin of Covid-19. They have 90 days to submit a report.
