Creating a pool of insurance against nuclear risks

The Indian government is considering the creation of an insurance pool against nuclear risks.
This agency will aim to provide, in accordance with the Civil Nuclear Liability Act of 2010, mandatory third party liability insurance during such accidents. The coverage will be underwritten by the non life company New India Assurance Company.

The pool will be managed by the reinsurer GIC Re. It will have a capacity of 250 million USD distributed as follows:. 125 million USD will be paid by 5 public non-life companies; the remaining half will be borne by the Indian state.
