Cyclone Idai: Already 700 fatalities reported and a high risk of epidemics

inondationsOnly a few days after the tropical cyclone Idai hit, death toll increased to 700. On March 24th, 2019 the Mozambican authorities have announced 446 deaths. In Zimbabwe, the second country most devastated by the cyclone, the UNO has reported 259 deaths and 200 missing among which 30 schoolchildren.

All across southern Africa, the cyclone Idai and the floods following the disaster have affected nearly 2 million people all in all. Both Mozambique and Zimbabwe face an imminent risk of epidemics.
