Earthquake: half the country at risk

According to a report of the RMS study firm, more than the half of the Indian territory is exposed to earthquake risks. Nearly 40 agglomerations are particularly vulnerable. Population growth and the economic expansion of the country are so swift that it would become hard to impose enough protection standards. Furthermore, Indians are the most exposed individuals to floods worldwide. This risk is all the more important now that a climate change phenomenon is playing out.

RMS, in association with GIC Re, has presented a probabilistic model for the flood risks assessment which is due to be completed in 2018. Meanwhile, the study firm has published a card showcasing this risk for the year 2017.
