Flood claims in Zimbabwe

The rainfall season has been particularly active in Zimbabwe. Since January 2017, torrential rain has caused substantial damage, especially in the opulent suburb of Harare. Zimbabwean insurers, some of whom already struggling, have sustained a large number of claims.

While governmental agencies, insurers and real estate companies acknowledge the difficulty of determining the accurate amount of damage, all of them agree that it may reach several millions of dollars.

Following the alarming weather forecasts, an increase in the demand for insurance policies covering damage to property has been sensed in the course of the last quarter of 2016.
