Hong Kong insurance is reporting profits in almost all classes of business

Profits published by the insurance market in Hong Kong amount to 2.2 billion HKD (283.6 million USD) in 2009. These results are 46.6% higher than those of 2008. This growth has been mainly generated by non life insurance and non-linked life insurance products. The profits reported by the non life insurance amount to 505 million HKD (65.1 million USD) compared to 127 million HKD (16.3 million USD) in 2008. The Motor and workmen's compensation classes of business remain unprofitable, but are witnessing a clear progression in comparison with 2008.
