Hong Kong, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, indemnification of 492 files

SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is the second serious catastrophe to hit Hong Kong. According to figures published on May 31st by the Federation of Insurers of Hong Kong, 40 companies have already paid USD 13.5 million for 492 compensation files.

By way of comparison, on June 9,2003, the 202 Chinese victims of SARS received only USD 450 000.
