In 2008, life insurance posted a premium volume of 46. 7 trillion rupees (4.022 billion USD) a figure on the rise by 5. 2% in comparison with 2007. The new underwritings amount to 30.2 trillion rupees (2.73 billion USD), that is a 1.4% decrease compared to the previous year.
