Insurance-New decree on the issuance of professional cards in Côte d'Ivoire
The general manager of the Treasury and Public Accountancy of Côte d'Ivoire, Assahoré Konan Jacques, has presented the new decree relating to the conditions of issuing professional cards for agents of banks, financial institutions and decentralized financial systems for the marketing of insurance products.
The new order supplements article 503 of the insurance code, which allowed these bodies to market insurance products but without defining the conditions to be fulfilled.
The order also clarifies the cases relating to advertising, subscription and due diligence of banks, financial institutions and decentralized financial systems.
This new regulation aims to increase the insurance penetration rate in Côte d'Ivoire which remains low to-date, according to Saliou Bakayoko, president of Côte d'Ivoire's association of insurance companies (ASA-CI).
