Leadway Assurance: 2019 results

Following the virtual annual general meeting on 29 May 2020, Leadway Assurance published the results for the 2019 fiscal year.

Gross written premiums amounted to 90.6 billion NGN (248 million USD), up by 4% compared to the 87.5 billion NGN (241 million USD) recorded in 2018.

The Nigerian insurer recorded a 12% increase in paid claims. The latter reached 38.5 billion NGN (105 million USD) at the end of 2019 compared to 33.9 billion NGN (93 million USD) a year earlier.

The balance sheet total has increased by 26%, rising from 312 billion NGN in 2018 (861 million USD) to 394 billion NGN (1.080 billion USD) at the end of December 2019.
