Meeting of the scientific and technical commission of the ACCR

The meeting of the scientific and technical commission of the African Center for Catastrophe Risks (ACCR) has recently been held at the premises of the Société Centrale de Réassurance (SCR).

The meeting focused on the importance of ACCR's contribution to the design of African reinsurance projects.

At this meeting, new concepts, such as Morocco Natural Hazard Probabilistic Risk Analysis (Mnhpra) were presented. This is a solution that makes it possible to provide a better estimate of natural disasters.

Possible collaborations were also discussed at the meeting. In order to optimize the management of natural risks, the ACCR is considering partnerships with the National Institute of Meteorology (DNM), the Royal Center for Remote Sensing (CRTS), the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST), the Agencies of Hydraulic Basins (ABH) and the Research Institute for Development (IRD).

For the record, the African Centre for Catastrophe Risks (ACCR) was founded in 2005 in Casablanca by the African Insurance Organization (AIO), in partnership with World Bank and UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development).
