Munich Re purcahses the Americain Midland

The German reinsurer has bought out the American Midland for the sum of 1.3 billion USD. The move which is due to be finalised in the course of the 2008 second quarter comes within Munich Re's strategy of deployment on the American market.

Midland which reported 679 million EUR (975 million USD) in turnover in 2006 is specialized in the insurance segment dealing with pre-fabricated and mobile homes.
