Natural disasters cost "rather moderate" for insurers

Despite the 880 claims identified by Munich Re (+11.3% compared to the average 2003-2012), 2013 has, with its 125 billion USD in economic losses, a balance well below the average of the last decade (-32%).
With 31 billion USD of insured losses, nearly 45% less than the average level, proof is made that "warnings and loss minimisation measures can restrict the impact of natural catastrophes".
