Reassuring situation for Japanese insurers after Typhoons Faxai and Hagibis

typhoon After Typhoons Faxai and Hagibis hit Japan in September and October 2019, A.M. Best estimates that these two disasters will not have a significant impact on the results of the country's three main insurers.

The cumulative losses of Faxai and Hugibis for MS & AD Insurance Group, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, will not exceed 200 billion JPY (2 billion USD).

Although the final bill may be higher than this estimated amount, the companies involved will not be subject to any particular pressure in terms of capitalization and solvency.

The above losses will be offset by the good performance of the three major groups in the other classes of business.
