Results 2017 of the Portuguese insurance market
According to the insurance supervisory authority (ASF), the Portuguese market reported a net profit of 350 million EUR (419.3 million USD) in 2017, that is a leap of 120% in one year.
The turnover increased by 4.1% at 10.7 billion EUR (12.82 billion USD). The life activity posted an increase of 3.2%, against 5.6% for non-life insurance. The latter is dominated by the motor class of business, which accounts for 70% of the underwritings.
The Portuguese market counts 43 insurance companies, 34 of them posted positive results in 2017.
