S&P maintains its outlook for the reinsurance sector

Despite the natural catastrophes which occurred in 2011, S&P has maintained reinsurance outlook as stable. The agency justified this choice by the capital surplus available and the reinsurers’ ability to manage risks, insisting that reserves release has sustained profits in recent years. This trend is not likely to last because of the declining interest rates and a gloomy macroeconomic environment.
