Swiss ship Glarus attacked by pirates

On September 22, 2018, pirates took control of the Swiss ship Glarus, belonging to the ship-owner Massoel Shipping. According to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 12 of the 19 crew members were abducted.

The vessel, which was carrying wheat from Lagos to Port Harcourt in the south of the country, was attacked 45 nautical miles southwest of Bonny Island. The pirates destroyed all communications equipment of the vessel before taking the crew members as hostage.
