The first insurance company dedicated to agriculture has been launched

Agrinsure, a joint venture that was born from a partnership between the South African Farmers Technical Insurance Services Company (FTISC) and Alexander Forbes Botswana, has been established. It is the first time that a company dedicated to agricultural insurance is set up in the country. National programs had already been launched with a view to supporting farmers but with poor results. Agrinsure will be providing insurance products covering livestock and crops. Given the limited scale of the local market, Agrinsure will be obliged to underwrite business outside Botswana.
