The risk of supply chain break underinsured in Asia

According to Zurich Insurance and the Business Continuity Institute, 60% of Asian companies sustained a break of supply chains in 2016.

Approximately 25% of these incidents had a cost above 1 million USD.

The survey conducted in association with the Swiss insurer found that despite high exposure, 46% of the companies of the Asia Pacific region have acknowledged not having contracted any policy against this risk.

The most frequent breaks affecting supply chains have been caused by telecommunication failures, weather events, road transport networks, cyber-attacks or defaulting subcontractors.
