The World Bank for the adoption of weather insurance in Africa

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is trying to introduce an insurance scheme against damages caused by weather conditions to agriculture in Africa. Currently under test, the project faces several difficulties: lack of reliable statistics, inadequate local regulations and weak capacities of some companies.
Major reinsurance companies, like Swiss Re or Munich Re, seem to be more and more interested in this type of activity.
