Tobacco companies blacklisted

South Korean health insurance public service has filed lawsuits against three cigarette manufacturers, British American Tobacco, KT&G and Phillip Moris. The claim amounts to 51.3 million USD in damages.

This amount corresponds to the overall health care expenses sustained by patients who smoked for over thirty years and have developed smoking-related cancer. Early 2013, the Supreme Court has dismissed the complaint lodged by 33 cancer patients against KT&G.
