UFC-Que Choisir files a complaint against Lastminute for illegal business practices

UFC-Que ChoisirThe consumer association UFC Que Choisir sues the travel website, Lastminute, for illegal, aggressive and fraudulent business practices. The reason is the travel insurance policy that the site would charge customers without their consent.

According to a simulation carried out by the association, Lastminute would impose an insurance of about EUR 35 (38 USD) per ticket purchased. The process was deemed "illegal" by the UFC-Que Choisir.

In fact, the Lastminute site displays a pop-up window when entering the credit card’s data. The window, considered by the consumer as a simple validation step, actually includes, in small print, the untimely addition of travel insurance to the amount charged.
